Sunday Morning Children’s Ministry

Children’s Ministry is provided for Nursery through 6th grade at both our 8:30 a.m. and our 10:30 a.m. services.

Our purpose for ministering to children here at Calvary Redding is to support the parents in, first, bringing their children to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, and second discipling them that they might live in obedience to God’s Word. On Sunday mornings our ministry to children is structured to a classroom-teaching environment in which they are ministered to using age appropriate curriculum that takes them through the Bible. We believe that children need to be taught the Bible just as adults need it. As Paul wrote to Timothy “the Holy Scriptures are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” 2 Tim. 3:15 and “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” Rom. 10:17.

We use a Bible based and God-centered curriculum designed for children ages 2 through 6th grade. Every Sunday, our children in this age range will be taught from the same passage of Scripture in a way that is appropriate for their respective age level. We believe this will assist the parents in discussing with their children what they have learned. Over a three-year period we will cover the historical books of the Old Testament, the life of Christ, Acts and Revelation. The Bible lessons are written in a question-and-answer format to insure that the students participate in and understand the lesson. Included in the lesson is: teaching, crafts, selected audio and visual materials, take home assignments to help him/her remember the lesson.

Nursery

Our nursery is for infants to 2 years old. We strive to provide a comfortable environment so that each child may feel happy and loved. We want you and your child, to feel comfortable and secure in the care that we make available in our nursery. Our nursery is equipped with age appropriate, sanitized toys. All toys, baby swings and cribs are cleaned and sterilized after each service. Each volunteer worker has completed a thorough application and references are checked.

Nursery care is available at both our Sunday morning services and our Wednesday evening service.

Nursing Mothers

If you are the mother of a newborn or a nursing mother, we invite you to enjoy our worship services in the comfort of our Mother’s room. This pleasantly furnished room with rocking chairs and changing table is equipped with closed circuit television so that you won’t miss out on the service. For your added convenience we also supply diapers and other changing amenities. Please ask an usher to direct you to our nursing mothers room.

Wellness Policy

We regret that we cannot accept a child who is ill in to the nursery or Sunday School. If you child is not feeling well, we ask that you do not expose other children or workers by bringing your child into the Nursery or Sunday School that Sunday. Our concern is for the health and well being of every child who attends. For that reason sheets are changed, toys, cribs and counters are disinfected after each use. We want to do everything we can to prevent the spread of illness and germs.

Wednesday Evening Children’s Ministry

On Wednesday evening we have a different format for teaching the children than on Sunday mornings. On Wednesdays, from September through May, we offer Calvary Kids Club for ages 2 – 6th grade. Calvary Kids Club or CKC is a Bible-based, hands-on, fun-time, learning experience for children. cKc is a program that will teach children Biblical moral principles and values, and then helps them learn how to apply these values in their lives. Each child has books applicable to their own grade level. As they go through the books they will be both memorizing verses and learning how to apply these verses in their lives. Each book builds on the other. As the kids go through the various books they will earn patches that they will display on their Kids Club vests. They also have the opportunity to earn various awards. The patches and awards remind the children of their growth in the Lord.

Wednesday Evening “Summer” Children’s Ministry

During the summer months we offer another format of learning God’s Word. Truth Quest is a children's worship program with the goal of teaching children to follow God in a fun and entertaining way using special characters, puppets, music, and a unique teaching format. TruthQuest®'s mission is to help children to develop a Biblical world view, emphasizing not only "what the right answers are," but WHY they are the right answers. Children who participate in the ministries of TruthQuest® are challenged not only to know what they believe, but WHY they believe it. In short, we try to teach the children to think critically in the light of the Truth of God's Holy Word.
